Hawaii Day 2

The second day we were in Hawaii was a Sunday so we figured that Pearl Harbor would be a good sabbath day activity since it is free.  We went there right when it opened to beat some of the crowds. It was interesting that there were so many Japanese people.  You could definitely feel the sacredness (is that a word?) of the spot.

We get a decent picture and Nate is "picking his nose."  Interesting.

The boys.  Nate couldn't stand the thought of wearing church clothes longer than needed so he brought his clothes to change into. 

The boys got a little bored, but they did okay.  This was the day I was most worried about for them.

Ty became a member of Heidi and Clayton's family for much of the trip.  He loved being with them.

After Pearl Habor we went to church.  It was the coolest church building I have been too.  Then we went on a hike to Manoa Falls.  It rained a little bit while we were walking, but the rain in Hawaii was more like a mist and felt really good. 

The hike was gorgeous!  It was so lush and green.  Kace and Ty loved swinging on the vines.  It looked just like I imagined Hawaii to look like.

Kace got there with the first group (which consisted of everyone but me, Nate and Ty......he is a bit slow)

When we got there Ty proceeded to fall in.  Heidi saved him and Cort laughed at him.

 

 Heidi (it was probably Clayton), thought of a great picture opportunity.  Don't they look like Adam in the garden?!  I think they had a little bit too much fun with this!

Hawaii with family....DAY 1

First off a huge THANK YOU to Heidi and Clayton who understandably felt a tremendous amount of pressure to ensure that we all had a great time.  They shows us a fabulous time and has definitely made me want to go back.  They spent a lot of time creating spread sheets full of activities, prices, websites, etc so that we could choose what we wanted to do.  Also all of these pictures are ones that were from Heidi's camera that she took.  It was nice not to have to have us all worry about taking pictures.  She got some great shots.  Thanks JO!

We had been counting down the time until we went to Hawaii for a LOOOOONG time!  We were all so excited!  I was honestly dreading the plane ride/airports with the boys, but when we got on the plane and they saw that they could "buy movies and games" they decided that was what they wanted to do.  They each spent their own money and bought a movie.  They were both really good.  I don't know what I was worried about.

The first thing we did when we landed was meet Heidi and Clayton and go to their friend Jodi's (Clayton served his mission in Hawaii) to change our clothes and then go to rent snorkel stuff for the week and then to Lanikai to go swimming. 

Heidi told us that Lanikai would be a good place to learn and to get used to snorkeling for Kace (and let's be honest......the rest of us too).  It was great.  There weren't big waves, but the water was gorgeous.  I have come to the conclusion though that all the water in Hawaii is gorgeous.

 

 Kace loved to snorkel.  Clayton spent the entire time teaching him to snorkel and swimming around with him.  I was amazed at how many fish there were.  Kace was really excited at this.  He loves all sorts of ocean life.  At one time he told me he wanted to be an oceanographer. 

Cort tried to teach Ty how to swim with his fins.  Good thing we got those fins.  Ty lost one of them at one of the first beaches we went to.  Big waste of $11.  I figured it was, but when we were renting stuff for everyone he would have felt bad if he was the only one without snorkel gear. 

 

 Ty always wanted his picture taken so Heidi got a ton of him this day.    He looked so silly with his snorkel mask on.  Actually we all looked pretty funny, but Ty's smile was the best!  There will be more to come with this.

It wouldn't be an Andrew family vacation if we didn't frequent Yogurtland as often as possible.  So after the beach we made a point to stop there!  I was PUMPED!  Ty was so excited too that we worried about his reaction when he woke up and realized that he had slept right through it. 

 

  

 

It was the perfect end to a great day!  We were exhausted!

FINALLY THE WINNER

I always look forward to our march madness competition.  Last year my teams disappointed and I finished dead last. After the first two rounds this year I thought history was going to repeat itself as I was in last again (stupid UNM).

 But then Kentucky and Kansas kept on winning, some games seemed more like miracles.  With their wins I started moving to the top (let's be honest, where I belong :) ). 


















The winner of the challenge gets to pick where they want to eat and gets the winner shirt presented to them.  I chose Maddox because it is good and was convenient (I added the convenient part because I really love Firehouse, but it just wasn't working out)

Lots and Lots of catch up........lets start with soccer

Ty was so excited to start soccer (understatement).   He was counting down the "sleeps" until he could start playing.  He was grown up going to his big brother's games and couldn't wait for it to be his turn.

I just love this picture of Ty with his Grandpa Andrew.  He LOVES when he gets to see Grandpa.

Tydon LOVED being goalie (as did all the kids).  He did a good job at goalie.  He made this face nearly every time he stopped the ball.  He may have made a roar sound as well.

Ty is really really fast (just ask him :) ).  He did a great job getting to where the ball was.  We thought he would be more aggressive then he was, but he eventually got the hang of it.

  We knew going into soccer that Ty was ultra sensitive and that it would be difficult to motivate him to do his best without making him cry. 

He LOVED the trophy.  When we got home and he was walking up the garage steps he accidentally dropped it and it broke.  You would have thought the world was ending.  We did glue it and life went on.

Some of Ty's friends from our ward were on our soccer team.  Tanner and Olivia :)  Ty loved playing with them!
