Trick or Treat
Ty would do the 'wiggle dance' at each house and grab his pumpkin and run to the door. It was so funny :) They both learned that at the houses you can take almost a handfull of candy and at the trunk or treat you are limited to just one. Ty had a hard time grasping that concept and I ended up dragging him away from the 'trunks'.
Kace really wanted to say, "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. If you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear" I can't believe that saying is still around. Don't worry he just said in the car and the next day at Great-grandma Andrew's. She informed him that she didn't think he would be able to get to her underwear!!
Overall we had a great time and of course got way TOO much candy. We spent the day yesterday dividing it into piles (candy bars, tootsie rolls, smarties, suckers, etc)-we have been busy or would have done it earlier. Kace informed me he didn't need my help this year and that he could do it himself. Oh, MAN I love the dividing into piles part.
I wasn't going to bring candy to the trunk or treat because I was feeling scroogish and just wanted to take the kids on their rounds and leave. BUT of course I started feeling guilty and went to the store at about 4:30 to get some candy. I am glad I did, because it seemed like a lot of people were having the same ideas (about not bringing candy and bringing their kids and leaving). Kace liked passing the candy out anyway.

Okay, this wasn't too bad. Obviously it is Kace all dressed up for Halloween in 2005.
Okay, now I don't want to tag anybody, but if you want to do it feel free, it makes for an easy idea of what to post about..........well, maybe I should tag Kim because she hasn't posted ANYTHING for quite awhile and Natelli, because she can't think of anything either.

Nate's projects.........FINISHED........almost
Every year at tithing settlement we set goals with our bishop, one spiritual and one temporal. Nate's goal last year was to get a door cut into the foundation of our house so we could have another entrance into our basement. He got that done, but we never poured cement for stairs. So this summer we did that........along with a little patio. It looks great!
Also, Nate has been so excited (pretty much ever since we moved here) to dig a pond and have fish and ducks. And ever since we have moved here I have wanted to plant more grass in the front yard (right now it seems as if it is a big pile of weeds), Nate had always said that it would be really expensive to water it (our front lawn is pretty big). We do have one acre share of water rights so he borrowed our neighbor's backhoe (A LOT!) and started digging. Sometimes he would dig until 1-2 in the morning (weird). He just wanted to get finished. The boys loved riding in the backhoe with their dad, unfortunately I forgot to get pictures. I will keep some when he does the trenches. Everytime Ty heard the sound of the backhoe engine coming down the road he would do this wiggle dance and start RUNNING for the door. He does the wiggle dance for any sort of machine: tractor, 4-wheeler, big truck, cement truck (yep, we got to see it when we poured cement), etc.
The pond is pretty deep, about six feet and just feels up with the ground water. I couldn't believe how high the water table was, but it is. Nate had to pump out the water for a long time before he started digging, because it was hard to dig with the water.

I will have to make sure the boys don't go out there, right now, they don't, but hopefully they always remember that rule. Nate says he will build a fence, but who knows if that will keep them out. I am kind of nervous about that.
All he has left to do (I think) is dig the trenches for the water lines and we can plant grass and have a sprinkler system. YEA!
He has already got a couple of ducks and is looking on ksl everyday for other free ones (even though I keep telling him that they aren't FREE we have to take care of them) and has the fish that him and Kace have caught from the river by our house.
Nate made a HUGE pile of dirt that has since become a favorite place to play for the boys and their friends. It will make a KILLER sledding hill in the winter. He is going to use some of the dirt to back fill where he wants to build his monster shed (someday, people, someday!)

A hunting we will go.....
That's right people, I am a very VERY nice wife and went hunting to the mountains with my dear sweet husband. He was hunting for deer, which I saw a doe (but he didn't really care about that one). The highlight (for me) was seeing some mountain goats and some moose (not quite as exciting as the bear I saw last year, but exciting nonetheless). They were fun to watch.
So we woke up really (REALLY) early (thanks to Nate's sis Caitlin for watching the boys) and headed up the canyon. I usually don't care too much about the hunting part, but I do enjoy watching Nate get excited when he sees something. Too bad we didn't see much else, but did have a great hike. I also like that part of the hunt........the workout. It works muscles I didn't know I had (and I have lots!) :)
Aside from me going this time, I am getting sick of the hunting season. I usually start out pretty good and then get sick of him going (and taking time off). He is still going so I guess we know who rules the roost at our house!

Where did 6 years go?
So I was informed last night that I was a bad mom because Heidi has a post about Kace's birthday before I do, his own mother. I really had started it, but wanted to get everyone else's pictures first..........oh, well, mine will have to do.
I can't believe my Kace is 6, where does the time go? The past few weeks he has been wanting (begging, whining, crying, etc) to go the the aquarium in Sandy, I had told him we had to wait until his dad could go with us because he would really like that. So FINALLY (kace's words) we were able to go. We went down on Friday (his bday was on Saturday) and went to the aquarium and then stayed the night at (my) grandparents Spencer's.
I would have had more pictures of Kace, but he was RUNNING through the aquarium like nothing else. We were out of there in less than an hour. He hardly wanted to stop, but oh well it was his day!
In the morning we met my entire family at IHOP for a birthday breakfast. Kace opened up his presents there and enjoyed all the attention in the world. One who did not enjoy it, was Ty, OH BOY, WAS HE ONERY! For some reason that kid picks the WRONG time to get sick (and of course it was when we saw Heidi and Clayton so now he is NEVER going to get cousins because of all the crying he did........he REALLY isn't like that ALL the time!)

The present opening. About in June I saw Kace throwing his toy(s) around and asked him why he was doing that....his answer........"I don't want them anymore." This translates into me SPOILED BRAT so I told him that I wasn't going to get him any toys for his birthday this year because he just decides that he doesn't want them anymore. Well I stuck to my guns and didn't get him any toys. Clothes, movie and soccer "stilts" (they are cleats, but for some reason Kace keeps telling everyone he got stilts.........don't know where that came from!) Although everybody else did.
After IHOP we went to the BYU/UCLA game, am I glad Kace picked that to do, because it was what I really wanted to do! In case you haven't heard (I don't know how you couldn't hear about it though) BYU KILLED UCLA 59-0. We went to the tailgate party and Kace got to throw a football in the hoop, spin the wheel for a free milkshake, shoot a basket, etc. He had fun, but it was HOT! And then for Nate's favorite part of the day, we stopped on the way home and got some ducks for his pond (next post)
Kace wanted to go and give the players high fives when they came out of the locker room so we went and WAITED. Needless to say Kace got bored. Nate did too, I am pretty sure, but I was surprised when he said that watching them come out and run onto the field made him miss playing football and wished he could play again.

Kace's hand kept being smashed against the person he was standing by. And by person I mean 25 year old man. You would think that it would be just kids wanting to give them high 5's, but NO they are mostly adults. I know most of you are probably thinking that I, Rachel probably still does that too, but NO I HAVEN'T DONE THAT SINCE I WAS A KID, come on people.

more stuff we've done...........
Well it has been awhile (sorry Heidi), I was just waiting for some more things to happen so I could have some pictures to post. We went bowling last week for FHE and had a great time. We played 2 games and I broke 100 the first game so was kind of proud of that. Kace loved it!

I know, I know Ty looks real good in his 'too little' clothes, I now have to break out the 3T clothes bin to find something for the big boy to wear. I just wanted to show you the little bowling shoes, I couldn't believe they had them that small! Also, he only messed up our bowling computers one time, so that was good. :)
Soccer has started again and I told them when I signed up that we may not be to many Saturday games, because of hunting and football games, but I think we will only miss one game. I asked Kace before his first game if he was excited and he said, "YES! I don't think I can go to sleep!" I then asked him how many goals he was going to score and he said, "Oh, probably a thousand!" At least he has confidence!! So his first game his team did well and won, we shall see how the other games go. He loved having real 'refs', even though it was just a 8-9 year old kid. He was funny he would blow his whistle and say, "um, Kace, you can't push other kids down.............um, the red gets to have a kick." It was entertaining. For the grandparents and others who want to watch they play every wednesday at 5:30 and every Saturday at 11:30.
We went to Lagoon this last weekend thanks to Heidi, Clayton and Cortney. It was ICON Lagoon day and only those who work at ICON can sign you up to go (thus the reason for the thanking), it is a great deal, they rent out the entire park and so it is not crowded at all. I don't think we waited in line for one ride. Even the white roller coaster you just walked right to the cars and got on (LOVE THAT!). Anyway, it isn't crowded, the parking is free, you pay $11 to get in AND you get a all you can eat meal (Nate loves that part!) We have gone the past three years and loved it. We get the excuse of Lagoon Day coming up for not riding the rides at the county fair ($10 for the ferris wheel, I DON'T THINK SO!) Kace said his favorite ride was the roller coaster, but by the end he said it was the haunted house (even though he was scared and wanted to hide under the hood of the car the entire time) He said the ride he didn't like was the wild mouse, because he felt like he was going to fall off. On the way home Ty kept saying, "WA-HOO, wa-hooooo!" We are just glad he is saying anything besides 'grunt'
